English for Aircraft Maintenance Personnel

The role of Aircraft Maintenance Personnel is highly technical and performed under CAA regulations. There are clear English language skills and functional language forms that are required for such personnel to perform their duties.

Professional requirement

  • Use speaking and listening skills to verbally communicate with foreign flight crew, particularly in unscheduled maintenance scenarios
  • Read and understand specific company procedures and the instructions and technical manuals in use within the organisation
  • Write technical entries and reports to complete maintenance documentation

English language training

We develop our language courses:

  • to accommodate the appropriate language level of trainees
  • in conjunction with industry professionals to build reading, writing, listening and speaking competencies in work-related contexts
  • to make reference to the ASD-STE100 Simplified Technical English: International specification for the preparation of maintenance documentation in a controlled language
  • to be delivered in a format and of a duration determined by organisational needs, e.g. classroom, eLearning or a blended solution.
