Australia, Asia and abroad: REW focuses on International Education

Staff from REW's Commercial and Academic Units recently attended the Australian International Education Conference (AIEC) in Melbourne.

The largest of its kind in Australia, the conference attracts over 1000 delegates and focuses specifically on the issues and trends affecting international education. The 2012 event dealt with the roles international education, training and research will play in the 21st century. It focused particularly on how Australia and other countries and regions might work together, and in partnership with Asia to shape the Asian Century.

The conference also brought together various groups of the International Education Association of Australia (IEAA) to discuss plans for 2013. Kylie Davies, Business Development Manager for REW, was appointed as one of two deputy convenors for the Marketing and Communications Special Interest Group (SIG) within the IEAA:

  •         Internationalisation of the Curriculum
  •         Pathways
  •         Student Mobility
  •         Transnational Education.

These SIGs organise professional development events throughout the year for IEAA members and educators across Australia.

Kylie is looking forward to utilising her marketing skills to promote the SIG she is representing, and said, "I am excited about my appointment and the opportunity to help my colleagues within  the education industry through the provision of practical learning.

Kylie went on to explain, "Representing REW is also a great opportunity and I look forward to developing my knowledge of the wider education market even further."
